STOCKHOLM — Tilgin, a leading provider of customer premises equipment (CPE) for triple play, next-generation broadband and IMS-based services, is pleased to announce the sale of its one millionth unit as part of a deal with Tele2 Austria, a customer of two years’ standing. The unit, a Vood 422 Home Gateway solution, forms part of Tilgin’s comprehensive range of CPE including both Home Gateway and IPTV Set-Top Box solutions.

Tilgin has focused on offering operator managed CPE solutions to the home, providing the ability to lower the operating expenses for the operators. Since that time Tilgin has continually built and developed its product portfolio to align with the market’s needs and its growth reflects the success of this strategy.

Introducing the concept of the home gateway being a service node, enable operators to offer a wider range of services and thus increase the value of the end-users broadband connection. This creates a platform for differentiation, a key factor for success in an industry that has previously competed primarily on speed and price. Operators are beginning to look at the development of these additional services to compete with an ever-growing competitor base in a challenging market, and the first step in this development is to set down a base of reliable, effective and future-proof Customer Premises Equipment (CPE). Once in place, this enables operators to roll out new services as the market develops.

This movement has driven the market for more advanced home gateways to expand dramatically; witch has favored the business opportunities for Tilgin delivering its solutions and products.

Ola Berglund, Tilgin CEO, comments:
“Our CPE solutions help operators to enhance their service portfolio and reduce operating expenses. All of our solutions are prepared for the roll out of new services, preventing operators from needing to roll out an entirely new set of CPE whenever they upgrade their service portfolio.

“It is with joy we recognize a home gateway being our millionth sold CPE as it confirms the market development of home gateways growing to become a more important and centralized role in the connected home, Over the coming year we expect to see operators building a more personal relationship with their customers and beginning to tailor their services to reflect individual needs and preferences. Our CPE solutions enable operators to prepare for these developments without needing to deploy an entirely new range of products to match every service upgrade.”
