ALi DVB-T HD Set-Top-Box SoC to Showcase at Hong Kong Electronics Fair
Thursday, October 11th, 2012TAIPEI, Taiwan — ALi Corporation (TPE:3041), a leading provider of set-top box (STB) system-on-chip (SoC) solutions, today announced that its new DVB-T high definition STB system-on-chip, M3801, will be demonstrated with partner solutions at the Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Autumn Edition), the largest fair of its kind in the world, to be held on October 13-16, 2012.
One highlighted feature of the M3801 is the display function in 3D effects. With no need for a 3D TV or 3D camera, consumers can enjoy innovative three-dimensional visual experience using the M3801’s multimedia player function.
ALi stands out from the competitors by integrating DDR3 DRAM interface in the M3801, providing higher bandwidth and more memory space at a compelling cost structure. The M3801 is also equipped with ALi’s new generation demodulator presenting enhanced performance and stability. In addition, the M3801 includes high performance RISC CPU with speed up to 600MHz, USB 2.0 host, HDMI transmitter, and high definition video decoder supporting streaming formats including MPEG-1/2/4, AVC, JPEG, and particularly VP8, by the offering of which ALi again leads the industry. Also with a low operating temperature, the M3801 SoC presents superior reliability to other competitor solutions on the market.
“DVB-T is the most widely adopted digital TV standard in use around the globe for terrestrial television transmissions. Many countries are yet to transit from analogue to digital TV broadcasting adopting the DVB-T standard while some others which have already completed the analogue switch-over will choose to remain with DVB-T to broadcast HDTV,” said Tony Chang, General Manager of ALi’s International Business Unit. “ALi’s M3801, a DVB-T HD SoC with optimum cost/performance value, especially targets such countries, including emerging markets in Eastern, Southern Europe as well as the Middle East, in addition to a few developed countries in Western Europe. The M3801 is yet another ALi product designed to bring even more enjoyable, high quality TV experience to viewers around the globe,” added Tony Chang.
Mass production and shipping of ALi’s M3801 have begun in the third quarter of 2012.
