LG launches family of PVRs based on ViXS™ XCode® 4200 SoCs

TORONTO — ViXS Systems Inc. today announces that the ViXS XCode 4200 family has been selected for LG Electronics’ PVR STB models. Crucial criteria used to select ViXS were performance, flexibility and features of the ViXS XCode 4200 family. Using the XCode SoC, LGE has cost effectively combined STB, recording and networking functions with media transcoding to pioneer a new wave of enhanced STB PVR products.
The Hard Disk Drive (HDD) PVR STBs models support dual tuner high definition (HD) terrestrial DVB-T & DVB-T2 and cable DVB-C. In addition, these models have an integrated DVD-RW drive for recording and archiving stored content from the HDD as well as DVD play back.
“When looking for a cost effective network media processing solution that could do all the combined features of advanced multi-tuner DVR Set-top box combined with DVD, Blu-ray, media streaming the ViXS XCode 4200 family was the only deployed device on the market capable of delivering this level of integration and performance,” said Jin Yong Kim President of Car & Media Division, Home Entertainment Company, LG Electronics Inc.
