Entone Lands Ukraine’s Largest Cable Operator
CUPERTINO, CA — Entone, Inc., a leading provider of Hybrid TV and Connected Home solutions, announced today that leading Ukrainian cable operator Volia has selected the Entone platform for delivering Hybrid TV services. Technology consulting firm Azdio is serving as overall system integrator on the project.
Volia, Ukraine’s largest cable operator, serves over 1.9 million customers across a footprint of over 29 cities, delivering advanced TV and Internet services. With this deployment, Volia adds Hybrid TV to its history of innovation with a track record that includes being the first cable company in Eastern Europe to launch DOCSIS Internet services. Volia’s new TV platform enables advanced TV services to be offered off-net to new target subscribers over broadband while also enhancing the features and services offered to existing Volia subscribers.
Entone’s Hybrid TV platform enables Volia to seamlessly combine the best of traditional broadcast services with enhanced IP services such as Web VOD, cloud DVR, and catch-up TV.
“In order to continue our leadership in customer service and innovation, we see Hybrid TV as taking Volia’s service to the next level, continuing to differentiate Volia from other options,” says Gyorgy Zsembery, CEO of Volia. “Entone is a critical element in our delivery platform and was selected to start the project due to their focus on Hybrid TV solutions and their ability to partner with Volia and our ecosystem partners on an aggressive launch schedule.”
Already integrated with leading middleware and content protection systems, Entone’s Hybrid TV media players and related software support numerous Hybrid TV deployments around the world. Entone’s products offer numerous tuner options, including the DVB-C standard that is being deployed at Volia along with an IP connection.
“Entone is delighted to be working with Volia to launch next-generation Hybrid TV services,” said Steve McKay, CEO of Entone. “There was a period of time when OTT services were considered the competitor to Pay TV operators. It is now clear that everyone wins when progressive operators such as Volia embrace the innovations of OTT services and make them available to their customers as part of a seamless user experience without requiring additional boxes, additional remote controls or changes to the TV inputs.”
Entone’s Hybrid Media Player supports satellite, cable, digital terrestrial broadcasting, fiber and xDSL TV service delivery. By offering popular in-home networking technologies such as wireless, wireline, powerline, and coaxial, Entone’s Hybrid TV Media Player provides high speed delivery of rich media throughout the home without rewiring or additional cabling.
“We are delighted to be the system integration partner with Volia and Entone in order to jointly deliver this seminal service launch for the Cable Industry worldwide. This enables Volia to deliver its advanced TV services Off-net to new subscriber base and significantly enhances Volia Subscriber’s On-net experience,” stated Dr. Arjang Zadeh, founder and CEO of Azdio.
