Smart J:COM Box launches in Japan

TOKYO, Japan — Jupiter Telecommunications Co., Ltd. (J:COM, JASDAQ: 4817), the largest multiple system operator (MSO) in Japan based on the number of customers served, has announced the launch of its J:COM Smart Box set-top box.
The interactive cable box comes in two versions, one manufactured by Pioneer (BD-V302J), the other by Humax (WA-7000). Both integrate a DOCSIS 3.0 modem (Broadcom BCM3383 chipset) and wireless home networking to 802.11n.
The EPG is based on G-Guide, Rovi Corporation’s HTML5-based interactive program guide for digital terrestrial, broadcast satellite (BS) and commercial satellite (CS) services.
