Ittiam Systems Announces Availability of Its Third Generation H.265/HEVC Codec with 422 12-Bit Support

  • Will showcase its Encoders and Decoders with range extension support at the upcoming IBC 2014 at its Booth Hall 1.F27

BANGALORE, India — IBC2014 — Ittiam Systems, a leading licensor of H.265 (HEVC) codecs, announced the addition of 422 12-bit support to its Pristine Quality H.265/HEVC Main 10 encoder SDK making it one of the industry’s first commercially licensable encoders with range extension. The range extension support is also available in Ittiam’s professional H.265/HEVC decoder SDK and will be showcased at the upcoming IBC 2014.

Dr. Sriram Sethuraman, Ittiam Fellow and Chief Technology Officer, quoted, “With range extension and support up to visually lossless bit-rates, our H.265 encoder now enables multi-generation transcoding with minimal quality degradation that meets UHD post-production and authoring workflow needs. Coupled with our fast 2-pass VBR encoding technology, studios and content owners can now achieve significant archival and delivery efficiencies, without incurring a prohibitively high turn-around time.”

Shantanu Jha, Vice President, Broadcast Media Solutions at Ittiam Systems, said, “Ittiam’s H.265 codec SDKs are highly rated for their quality and performance by our customers and the addition of range extensions further advances these industry leading products. Our commitment to delivering production ready SDKs within a short span of standardization enables our customers to effectively leverage the benefits of H.265 technologies in their operations, products and businesses at the soonest.”

In addition to range extension support, Ittiam will also be showcasing the latest versions of its entire H.265/HEVC product portfolio at IBC at Ittiam and partner booths. This includes production ready system SDKs for live H.265 encoding ranging from HD to 4K/UHD resolutions on low power GPU accelerated platforms based on Intel Haswell architecture.
