Tuesday, September 30th, 2014
Teletime has reported that Unotel Telecom’s pay-TV platform iON TV is to launch in Brazil on October 1st. The service combines satellite pay TV with free-to-air terrestrial and online content. The service is provided to customers via Unotel’s ISP partners.
Set-top boxes for the service are produced by Kaon in Manaus and feature 4 tuners, two each for satellite and terrestrial. A hard disk drive can be added to allow for recording of programmes.
As announced last year, middleware (OpenTV) and security are to be provided by Nagra.
