STOCKHOLM, Sweden — Net Insight, a leading provider of efficient and scalable transport solutions for media, IP and broadcast networks, today announces that its transport solution has been selected by South Africa’s state-owned transmission network operator Sentech, to deliver contribution services for its national digital terrestrial TV (DTT) network.
Operating one of the largest DTT networks in Africa, Sentech chose Net Insight’s Nimbra Media Switch Routers (MSRs) for contribution services for its fiber-based network.
By leveraging the features of Nimbra products that combine unique lossless routing with state-of-the-art switching architecture, Sentech will benefit from uncompromised quality of service (QoS) and content integrity in its DTT network. Furthermore, Net Insight’s solutions will enable Sentech to combine native video/audio service transport capabilities with carrier-class Metro Ethernet switching for a high-quality multiservice solution.
“Providing signal distribution services to all public and private broadcasters in South Africa, we needed a solution that delivered above and beyond our quality requirements. With similar successful deployments with major players across Europe, we knew Net Insight had the ideal solution to meet our needs.” says Setumo Mohapi, CEO of Sentech.
The deal, secured through Net Insight’s country partner GDS Technologies, will see the first phase of the project focusing on the contribution aspect of the network to be delivered and fully operational before the end of the first quarter of 2015.
“Sentech has been involved in a number of major national projects across South Africa, so we are excited by the decision to use our transport solution for its nationwide DTT network for contribution.” said Fredrik Tumegård, CEO of Net Insight.” This deployment is yet another example of Net Insight’s ability to meet the demands of our customers and the continuation of our goal to deliver the best media transport solutions to broadcasters and service providers across the world.”
