iWedia’s MHEG-5 Engine Enables Motive’s TabletTV UK App to Give Support to “Red Button” Services
LAUSANNE, Switzerland — iWedia, a leading provider of software solutions for TV devices to service operators and Consumer Electronics manufacturers, today announced it has provided the MHEG-5 engine of the TabletTV UK app of London-based Motive Television, the digital television technology, software and solutions provider.
Motive’s TabletTV UK app combined with a mains-powered tuner (for use in the home), or a battery-powered portable tuner (for use on the go) is the first and only of its kind to deliver a full Freeview viewing experience on tablets in the United Kingdom.
The TabletTV UK app allows the viewer to benefit from the Freeview “red button” interactive capabilities plus from additional state-of-the-art Motive features to watch and record all Freeview channels.
To give support to the “red button” services, Motive has chosen to integrate iWedia’s MHEG-5 engine within the TabletTV UK app.
“Supporting the “red button” services is a key advantage of our TabletTV UK product,” commented Leonard M Fertig, CEO at Motive. “In order to efficiently achieve that goal, it was essential for us to leverage a third party’s MHEG-5 software and expertise; iWedia has been the ideal partner with that respect”.
“We are delighted to have provided our MHEG-5 products and services to Motive,” said Hervé Creff, VP Marketing at iWedia. “And we are excited to have been part of their innovative TabletTV UK project.”
