MCTV selects Amino TV devices and service assurance platform to support IP transition

Amino Communications, a global leader in hybrid TV device and cloud solutions, has secured a new contract to provide TV devices and its Engage™ service assurance software to North American service provider MCTV.

Founded in 1965, and based in Massillon, Ohio, MCTV delivers fiber-based broadband Internet, cable TV, Phone and Security services to 47,000 homes and businesses across the five counties it serves.

With the company transitioning to IP delivery for existing and future entertainment service delivery, MCTV was looking for a solution that would combine advanced TV devices, integrated MoCA for content delivery around the home and service assurance tools to manage and monitor in-field device performance.

Amino will provide its latest Kamai 450m and Amulet 455m TV devices to deliver linear-based cable TV service and online video through MCTV’s “watchTVeverywhere” service which enables customers to view their favourite content on mobile and tablet devices. In addition, MCTV will deploy Amino’s Engage platform that will enable MCTV to remotely manage devices in the field for software updates, troubleshoot for performance issues and quality of service delivery.

MCTV’s President Bob Gessner said: “We pride ourselves on delivering great quality services to our customers and we were looking for a partner who could provide us with both high quality devices and service assurance capability. We are pleased to work with Amino on this next exciting phase of our development as we move to IP service delivery.”

Amino CEO Donald McGarva said: “MCTV is an ambitious and innovative operator whose vision of future entertainment delivery aligns very closely with ours and we look forward to working with them on their transition to IP service delivery. This new contract underlines our ability to now go “beyond the box” with quality devices and software tools to ensure consumers receive an optimal entertainment experience.”

The Kamai 450M is ideal for multi-room video deployments and is also optimized for streaming media services. It supports MoCA to enable reliable HD video distribution throughout the home using existing in-home coax wiring.

The Amulet 450 incorporates internal storage options for support of DVR and WHPVR applications with a focus on ease of installation through advanced networking options such as 802.11ac Wireless and MoCA.

The Engage™ platform was originally developed to manage TV devices but has now expanded its capabilities to support residential gateways, media streamers, home monitoring cameras and sensors in the emerging “Internet-of-things” (IoT) market. The modular software design enables operators to remotely manage devices in the field for software updates, troubleshoot for performance issues and quality of service delivery.
