Next Gen Cable Provider Launches with the Industry’s Largest Basic HD Package

DENVER — Layer3 TV is launching the next generation of cable and a rich channel lineup that includes live linear HD channels from every major programming group. Unlike the current “skinny” bundle fad, which has enjoyed muted success, Layer3 TV is embracing the majority of consumers who demand a full bundle by offering a robust HD programming package with select 4K. The allHD™ Platinum package delivers more HD in an entry level package than any other provider and plans to make available over 200 HD channels with additional options for add-on such as individual channels, thematic genre tiers and premium add-ons.

“The industry’s universal support for innovation has been astounding, resulting in our launch of an entry level offer that includes virtually every channel, and a package that includes the best and most comprehensive collection of the top 50 Nielsen-rated cable and broadcast channels,” said Layer3 TV’s Chief Content Officer Lindsay Gardner. “We look forward to offering our customers quality, top-notch content in the highest picture quality, allHD™, 4K when possible, and a range of soon-to-be-revealed features and services.”

Added Justin Connolly, Executive Vice President of Affiliate Sales and Marketing for Disney and ESPN Media Networks, “Layer3 TV’s user interface and packaging options offer a fantastic environment, taking advantage of the latest technology to present our content. We continue to look for new ways to reach consumers and Layer3 TV offers a great avenue to do that.”

Layer3 TV will offer easy to understand packaging models, such as its basic Platinum package, with the ability to supplement a variety of different add-ons (Sports & Info, Movies & Music, and En Español), as well as number of select networks available individually. Every channel that is available in HD, will be carried in HD, in the Platinum level of service. Layer3 TV will continue to add select channels to its base, premium and individual channel offerings throughout 2016, including integrated, online video services from major OTT players and others.

Scripps Networks Interactive President of Content Distribution and Marketing Henry Ahn said: “We are pleased to have the entire Scripps family of networks, including HGTV and Food Network, as part of the Layer3 TV launch. Scripps Networks Interactive is excited to see Layer3 TV’s impact on the industry with what is a very compelling and innovative product.”

“We have partnered with major content companies on new products and services that will completely change the way consumers interact with the cable universe,” added Gardner. “In doing so, we are unlocking and enabling the enormous creativity that exists in the content eco-system. Our open platform approach will begin to pry open the set top for truly unique and integrated experiences that will forever change the television landscape.”

“The Weather Channel’s team has spent numerous whiteboard sessions working closely and collaborating with Layer3 TV’s innovative and open minded product team,” said Dave Shull, CEO of The Weather Channel television network. “Together, we will be able to offer users of the Layer3 TV product unique first-hand expert explanations, highly localized information and compelling storm coverage.”

Viacom’s Denise Denson, Executive Vice President of Content Distribution and Marketing adds: “Advances in technology are bringing our consumers exciting new ways to enjoy television programming on multiple platforms and in higher quality than ever. Viacom’s audiences are among the most engaged and the most mobile, a perfect match with Layer3 TV’s commitment to offering a high-end, multiplatform, consumer-friendly package of programming. We are pleased to be providing our full portfolio of networks to Layer3 TV and its customers.”

Layer3 TV’s allHD™ Platinum includes all major local and national live channels, along with individual and premium channels.
