Evolution Digital reaches eVUE-TV agreement with GCITuesday, June 20th, 2017
CENTENNIAL, Colo. — Evolution Digital today announces that it has reached an agreement with General Communication Inc. (GCI) to deploy its fully-managed eVUE-TV® IPTV Solution to GCI customers in select service regions. GCI delivers residential and business telecommunications services primarily to residents across the state of Alaska.
Last November, Evolution Digital announced its agreement to deploy eBOX®, powered by TiVo®, with GCI. eVUE-TV is available on the IP hybrid set-top box as a fully-integrated IP Video on Demand platform that is aggregated with live linear channels, OTT apps, Pay-Per-View and launched through a TiVo user interface.
“We are excited to announce that GCI customers will have access to the best Video on Demand content through an advanced IP video platform with a pricing model that makes sense to the operator,” said Marc Cohen, executive vice president at Evolution Digital. “Transitioning to an IP video platform sets the stage for GCI’s continued growth by capturing new revenue and expanding to new markets.”
“We look forward to working with Evolution Digital, leveraging their expertise and ability to provide a low-cost solution that will deliver GCI’s next generation IP Video on Demand service,” said Eric Powelson, senior product manager of video at GCI. “Aggregating the most popular content available in the market today, including live Pay-Per-View, via a seamless and easy-to-use interface, eVUE-TV will represent the first step in our transition to IP video. Additionally, the solution plays a key role in our efforts to reduce costs by integrating Evolution Digital’s eBOX.”
GCI joins the growing list of cable operators nationwide deploying Evolution Digital’s eVUE-TV platform. GCI marks the fifteenth operator to sign on for eVUE-TV, as Evolution Digital in April announced more deployments of eVUE-TV with member operators in the National Cable Television Cooperative.
Evolution Digital’s eVUE-TV platform also features Conax’ world-renowned multi-DRM security content protection for managed viewing across all connected devices.
