BERGEN, Norway — Vimond Media Solutions today announced that PLDT, the largest telecommunications and digital services provider in the Philippines, has selected Vimond to drive the OTT video solution in PLDT’s platform consolidation project. The company is also the first one to use Vimond’s new product – the Live Channel Planner. Vimond joined this effort in late 2016 and has already delivered solutions for two services, Smart Life Global and Smart 360 owned by Smart and PLDT Global respectively. PLDT is planning to launch three additional services powered by the Vimond platform by the end of 2017.

By aligning on a common OTT platform, PLDT is aiming to optimize costs and facilitate the reusability of both content and functionalities. Vimond is contributing key parts of its modular platform, as well as providing professional services and custom adaptations to this consolidation effort, particularly for Smart Life Global, which provides information and entertainment to Filipinos abroad, and Smart 360, which provides similar services within the Philippines.

The Live Channel Planner, developed by Vimond Media Solutions, has been chosen by PLDT to schedule and monitor a large number of live channels. The solution lets define channels, setup encoder sources and monitor inbound live feeds. It also imports EPGs (electronic program guides) to create programs and enable catch-up, which can be viewed together with the channels in the timeline view.

In addition to continued work on the Smart Life Global and Smart 360 service, Vimond is helping PLDT transform two Cignal applications and the PLDT Home Player service. The new service Cignal on Roku will deliver service to PLDT subscribers via a Roku Set Top box. The CtoGo service will deliver OTT for mobile devices and web for Cignal users. The Home Player is an OTT service provided to PLDT users, which shares content with the Cignal apps over web, iOS and Android devices. Vimond is delivering several components of its modular OTT video platform for these services, including customized analytics functions in the Vimond Control Center for video, user and subscription data.

“The combination of our modular core product offerings and our range of professional services, which extend from project management to custom development, has proved to be an excellent fit for this ambitious project,” said Miguel Silva, CCO, Vimond. “Our goal is to enable service providers like PLDT to deploy interoperable solutions that deliver greater customization, efficiency and control.”
