SmarDTV Global collaborates with Synamedia on secure STB IP dongles integrated with Infinite platform
LA CIOTAT, France — SmarDTV Global, a leader in secure solutions for the pay-TV industry, today announced a collaboration with Synamedia, the world’s largest independent video software provider, that makes it easy for operators with a large installed base of STBs to add IP multi-screen services.
New modular set-top box (STB) IP dongles will give pay-TV operators a low-cost way to quickly launch OTT and UHD services as they respond to changing TV viewing habits.
The SmarDTV Global IP-dongles, based on a new chipset, are pre-integrated with Infinite, Synamedia’s cloud-based, end-to-end video software platform. This is demonstrated at IBC on the Synamedia stand (Hall 14 C41) and the SmarDTV Global stand (Hall 5, B53).
The SmarDTV devices use the STB’s secure broadcast channel to access live broadcast services and use the subscriber’s Wi-Fi network to access OTT and connected services. SmarDTV device becomes the main interface for the user experience.
“Synamedia’s large pay-TV customer base and innovative Infinite platform make them the perfect collaboration partner for these solutions. The result will be a new way for pay-TV operators to enhance their services and keep subscribers loyal in a competitive market,” comments Guillaume Reillon, VP Marketing at SmarDTV Global.
