AMSTERDAM — Irdeto, the world leader in digital platform cybersecurity, today announces the extension of collaboration with Beximco Communications Ltd, part of Beximco Group, the largest private sector group in Bangladesh. Beximco has selected Irdeto to provide middleware to all new set-top boxes of Akash Digital TV, the nation’s premier Direct-to-Home (DTH) service that provides subscription-based pay-TV services offering supreme quality pictures and audio of popular Bangladeshi and foreign TV content.

Akash’s next generation of set-top boxes will include Irdeto’s middleware, giving all Akash’s platforms a unified look and feel and enhance customer experience through the availability of valued added services. It will also allow Akash to take advantage of dynamic advertisement technology, thereby increasing ad inventory value and driving new revenue possibilities for ad sales.

The existing relationship with Irdeto was initiated in 2019 when the company became Beximco’s trusted partner by offering Irdeto’s cardless conditional access system Irdeto Cloaked CA. The success of this collaboration paved the way for Irdeto becoming the partner to secure the new set-top boxes of Akash. “We have built an excellent relationship with Irdeto and we look forward to the further strengthening of our collaboration that enables us to continue to expand the services we provide,” said Dr Tariq Alam PhD, Executive Director, Beximco Communications Ltd. “We are very excited about the future with this innovative platform and value-added service offerings that will enable us to provide the best possible experience to our subscribers.”

“The dramatic growth in streaming has heightened the need for solutions that are able to support multiple platforms to the same seamless standard. We are pleased with the achievements we are making in optimizing and enhancing Akash’s software architecture. Our objective is to utilize our unique skills and experience to revitalize their current pay-TV offering and elevate Akash’s position in the market,” said Shane McCarthy, COO for Video Entertainment at Irdeto.

Irdeto has partnered with numerous pay-TV operators around the world to deliver unified and advanced middleware for set-top boxes. Irdeto solutions are currently installed in over 40 million set-top boxes around the world.
