AMSTERDAM — Whale TV™ today announced the next generation of its popular independent TV OS: Whale OS 10. The new content-first UX design has fewer menu levels and helps consumers explore entertainment in a more personalized way through AI-powered recommendations. Whale OS 10 enables consumers to seamlessly navigate to their favorite TV shows, whether it is streamed, broadcasted or playing on a connected device. Whale OS 10 is expected to start shipping in the first half of 2025.
New in Whale OS 10 will be the OS-level integration of Whale TV’s owned and operated free TV streaming service Whale TV+. On Whale TV+ consumers can find an abundance of free entertainment across various genres, both live and on demand. On the live section, hundreds of live TV channels will be available, across categories such as news, sports, TV series, movies and music.
Consumers spend a considerable amount of their viewing time seeking new entertainment to watch. Whale TV’s AI-powered recommendations and voice search will help consumers navigate to their favorite pastimes quicker. Whale TV’s voice assistant is powered by ChatGPT and supports large language models, and therefor generates better recommendations and enables users to interact with their TV in a more conversational way compared to others.

Some of the new features & enhancements in Whale OS 10:
- To make finding free TV easier Whale OS 10 will include a Free TV area in the navigation bar, where a selection of the best free TV programming will be available from across various apps, including Whale TV+.
- To stay connected with friends and family Whale OS 10 allows users to upload photos from their mobile devices to the TV and to send digital post cards to your loved ones.
- Users can now choose which voice assistant they would like to use on Whale TV. Choose between the built-in AI-powered Whale TV voice assistant or use Alexa.
Whale TV enables TV brands to offer smart TVs that are easy to use and ready for global deployment, with support for all tuner standards and localized in 68 languages. Consumers can download hundreds of streaming apps from the Whale TV App Store, including popular choices such as Netflix, Prime Video and YouTube. Whale TV has partnered with more than 400 TV brands to date and powers 41.1M+ monthly active TVs.
