Poland’s DTH market is about to be shaken up by a new pre-paid service. Since 3rd October, Cyfrowy Dom, a company owned by ITI Neovision, the majority shareholder in the DTH platform “n”, has started offering viewers Telewizja na karte – TNK (‘TV on card’). It will allow them to watch over a dozen channels, five of them (TVP1, TVP2, TVN, TN7 and Religia.tv) will be free of charge. The other channels will include TVN24, nSport and Disney Channel and will be included by paying an additional monthly fee.

To receive TNK, viewers will be required to buy a decoder using Conax CA, supplied by TechniSat Digital Sp.z.o.o.

Cyfrowy Dom will be targeting the lower end of the Polish pay-TV market, especially those subscribing to the basic Cyfrowy Polsat service, and aims to have 50.000 clients by the end of this year.
TechniSat Digital Group is having R&D and production facilities in Oborniki Slaskie/Poland as well. The production of Set-Top-Boxes has started in Poland in 2006; whereas TechniSat Digital was founded in 1987. The number of employees in the polish TechniSat site comes up to nearly 300, and about 1.500 in the whole TechniSat Group. TechniSat Digital Sp.z.o.o. has also established a Sales Department in Oborniki/Poland which is responsible for customers on the Polish market.
