New iVDR Removable Hard Disk Drive and New 6X Blu-ray Media Ideal for Capturing High-Definition Content

LAS VEGAS, NV — Maxell Corporation of America, the technology and marketing leader in advanced data storage media, announces a line of storage and recording products for consumer application. These products that interconnect homes, offices, autos and mobile lifestyles include the new Information Versatile Disk for Removable (iVDR) and the new 6X Blu-ray media.

“The broad range of broadcast and storage applications available with the iVDR removable drive and Blu-ray media allow consumers to interact with High-Definition content and is easy enough for anyone to use,” said Cheryl Severini, senior marketing manager of Maxell. “Consumers can enjoy storing and recording their favorite home movies, videos, music and other data with richer texture, images and sound.”

Maxell iVDR Removable Hard Disk Drive

The new Maxell iVDR removable hard disk drive could potentially allow consumers to capture, store and interact with digital video content at high speeds, while enjoying the same great broadcast technology once reserved for professional applications. Offered in a compact and lightweight design, this new portable hard disk drive can be used with a variety of applications including audio/video, information technology, and vehicle-mounted devices to record up to 250 GB of data.
Other promising innovative features of the iVDR include “electronic paper” for easy labeling of stored content, and a “capacity meter” to keep you informed of the amount of remaining space available on the hard disk drive. The “electronic paper” display will allow consumers to easily label and identify the contents of their Maxell iVDR by entering text through a USB port for a resulting label that appears as electronic ink on the face of the drive. The launch of an iVDR player will bring the technology full circle for consumer applications.

Maxell 6X Blu-ray Recordable Media

Maxell is also introducing a new 6X write speed disc to its Blu-ray line to combine larger storage capacities with maximum performance to ensure that personal memories recorded with this latest technology can be enjoyed to their fullest capabilities and will be protected over time.

Specially designed to meet the ever-increasing consumer demand of HD technologies, the new Maxell 6X Blu-ray BD-R (write-once single-layer), 12 cm discs can store up to 25 GB, and the new Maxell 6X Blu-ray BD-R DL (write-once, dual-layer) can store up to 50 GB and nearly double the content. Using a blue-violet laser to achieve the capacity necessary for recording HD content, Maxell Blu-ray discs with increased storage capacity and transfer speeds are ideal for storing large amounts of data and digital content.

The new Maxell 6X Blu-ray Disc joins a full line of Maxell Blu-ray media, including BD-R (write-once, single-layer, 25 GB), BD-RE (rewritable, single-layer, 25 GB), BD-R DL (write-once, dual-layer, 50 GB), BD-RE DL (rewritable, dual-layer, 50 GB), as well as 8 CM Camcorder Blu-ray media, BD-R (write-once, single layer, 7.5 GB) and BD-RE (rewriteable, single-layer, 7.5 GB).
