Freeview's Best Ever Christmas Delivers Two Million Sales
Tuesday, February 6th, 2007Freeview today announced that Christmas 2006 was its best ever, with over two million digital boxes and digital televisions sold during the quarter. The record Christmas sales continue the service’s strong take-up, with 15 million sales since launch in October 2002.
Q4 2006 saw strong Freeview sales across all products, including digital boxes, digital televisions, and digital TV recorders – where sales have doubled year-on-year1.
With the forthcoming consumer launch of Freeview Playback – the new digital TV recorder brand which will give consumers greater flexibility with their TV viewing and recording, sales of these products and growth of the category can only be expected to continue.

With two million sales since Ofcom’s last report, which put Freeview in 9.3 million homes, we’re well on our way to becoming the nation’s favourite way to watch TV.”
