Serbia to use DVB-T2 and MPEG-4 for DTT
Friday, May 22nd, 2009BELGRADE — Serbia’s Minister for Telecommunications and Information, Jasna Matić, has said that Serbia will use the MPEG-4 and DVB-T2 standards in its transition to digital broadcasting.
The government plans to allocate €15-40 million to subsidise receivers – the exact amount depends on whether the government decides to offer a blanket subsidy or only to subsidise low-income families.
A target date of April 2012 has been set for analogue switch-off.
The Ministry has produced a Draft Digital Radio and Television Programme Strategy, available on its web site, which is open for debate until June 12.
