LAS VEGAS — CES UNVEILED — With the goal of delivering simple connected TV experience, Seiki, a leading brand in HD and emerging 4K Ultra HD display market, today announced it will be the first major TV brand to introduce HD TV models in the U.K. featuring the new Freeview Connect TV service.

Seiki will offer Freeview Connect in its upcoming 32-, 40-, 50-inch HD TV models by Q3 2015 with plans to expand to additional screen sizes by Q4 2015.

Freeview Connect is next-generation connected TV service, enabling all the Freeview channels via Internet and embedded streaming media channels available in the market, such as Netflix™, YouTube™ and more. The service features a web-based electronic program guide and enables free-to-air viewing on Internet-ready TVs by providing the BBC iPlayer, 4oD and ITV player available as standard.

Launched in 2002, Freeview is a subscription-free TV service in the U.K. providing more than 60 digital TV channels as standard and additional ten HD channels when using an HD television or HD set top box/recorder.

“The goal of integrating Freeview Connect to Seiki TVs is to enable universal access to public service broadcasts via connected TVs in the U.K. market,” said Mickey Cho, general manager at Seiki U.K. “Seiki is proud to be one of the major TV brands working with Digital UK to build and provide Freeview-branded connected TVs. Seiki aims to bring to the market its own unique approach to make the connected TV experience simple and accessible to every TV buyer.”

The Seiki Freeview Connect HD TV models will be demonstrated for the first time at CES Unveiled Las Vegas, the official media event of the International CES. The event will be held on Sunday, Jan. 4, 2014, at Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino.
