VisualOn Partners with V-Nova to Deliver the Next Generation of Video Streaming on Connected Devices

  • VisualOn’s OnStream® MediaPlayer+ will integrate V-Nova’s PERSEUS® technology to provide higher compression videos for rich media content

SAN JOSE, Calif. — VisualOn®, a multimedia software company enabling high-quality video and audio playback across connected devices, and V-Nova Ltd., a leading provider of video compression solutions, announced their collaboration on video streaming solutions based on V-Nova’s game-changing PERSEUS® video compression technology. This partnership provides significant compression gains by integrating V-Nova’s PERSEUS® technology with VisualOn’s OnStream® MediaPlayer+ to give operators and content providers significant gains in delivery economics and performance.

“The consumer demand for high-quality streaming media on connected devices is unprecedented – and media consumers have higher expectations than ever before when it comes to the ability to view quality content wherever and on whatever device they choose,” said Andy Lin, CEO of VisualOn. “As experts in secure and high-quality content playback, we’re uniquely positioned to address the scalability of operators and content providers’ over-the-top and TV Everywhere services, while adopting newer technologies without requiring significant changes to their existing deployments. The modularity and architectural flexibility of OnStream MediaPlayer+ allows us to easily integrate V-Nova’s PERSEUS® technology to offer playback of HD quality streams at SD bitrates.”

“V-Nova’s PERSEUS® technology rewrites the rules of compression. It demonstrates at least two to three times the average compression gains, at all quality levels, under practical real-time operating scenarios when compared against H.264, HEVC or JPEG2000. VisualOn’s partnership with V-Nova extends our global consortium of companies that will embed PERSEUS® in their content delivery products,” said Guido Meardi, V-Nova’s CEO and Founder.

“We are delighted to partner with VisualOn – both our organisations share the vision of delivering high-quality video to connected devices across the globe. Together, we can improve the quality and reach of video streaming services. We make the impossible possible, and the possible more profitable,” added Eric Achtmann, Executive Chairman, of V-Nova.
