Manhattan launches the T3 Freeview Play 4K Smart Box

UK-based set-top box specialist Manhattan has announced the launch of their first Freeview Play set-top box, the T3 Freeview Play 4K Smart Box.

The T3 gives viewers easy access to thousands of hours of live and on demand content. Freeview Play provides live TV from over 70 digital and 15 HD channels, as well as on demand programmes from BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, All 4, Demand 5, UKTV Play, CBS Catch up Channels UK and Horror Bites all at no monthly cost.

Freeview Play’s intuitive programme guide means viewers can plan their viewing up to seven days ahead and navigate backwards, browsing catch-up content from the last seven days.

Building on the Freeview Play offering, the T3 also includes YouTube and YouTube kids – bringing popular online content to the biggest screen in the home.

The T3 is designed to make discovery as simple and intuitive as possible. Freeview Play’s universal Search and Recommendations function enables viewers to easily find their favourite content and discover new programmes. Uniquely for a Freeview Play device, viewers can also build their own Watchlist of on demand content to watch later.

With Wi-Fi and simple setup, viewers can be watching both live and on demand TV in less than 5 minutes.

Thanks to its quad-core CPU, the T3 delivers the speed and responsiveness viewers expect in a next generation TV experience, more akin to the latest smartphone rather than a legacy set-top box.

The box’s Instant On function means that viewers don’t have to wait for the box to come out of standby, while maintaining very low power consumption. The T3 also comes equipped with a smart learning remote which can be quickly and simply re-programmed to control the viewer’s TV.

The T3 is firmly future-proofed and can deliver the very latest 4K Ultra HD programming. Manhattan will continue to enhance the T3 through regular updates which will include new features and services.

“Manhattan pride ourselves on delivering affordable set-top-boxes that punch way above their weight”, said Alex Arbab-Zadeh Director of Product Development at Manhattan TV.

“Lots of set-top boxes offer a blend of live TV and catch-up services, however they don’t often deliver the best experience for the viewer.

“The T3 is designed to upgrade people’s viewing experience. The T3 allows viewers to simply and effortlessly switch between live and on-demand TV, while enjoying a whole host of features such as Recommendations, Search and Watchlists along with HD and 4K compatibility. We believe the T3 experience is very much on a par with high-end pay TV set top boxes, but for a competitive, one-off fee.”

James Jackson, Technology Director for Freeview Play, commented “We are delighted to welcome Manhattan on board. The demand for Freeview Play has been increasing rapidly since our launch three years ago, reflected in the wide range of Freeview Play devices now available. Viewers can now choose from a huge range of Freeview Play devices from high end design led TVs retailing at over £10,000 to set top boxes retailing at under £80.”

The T3 Freeview Play set-top box comes backed by Manhattan’s free two-year manufacturers guarantee and UK-based customer support team. The T3 will be available from leading retailers from today at an RRP of £79.99.

A recorder version of the T3, the T3-R, is already in development and will be available later in 2019.
