Chunghwa Telecom Multimedia-on-Demand subscribers down 26k in 2Q09

TAIPEI, Taiwan, R.O.C. — Chunghwa Telecom Co., Ltd (TAIEX: 2412, NYSE: CHT) (“Chunghwa” or “the Company”), today reported its operating results for the first six months of 2009.

As of the end of the second quarter of 2009, Chunghwa had 660,000 Multimedia-On-Demand (MOD) subscribers, equivalent to a 29.7% year-over-year increase, though down 25,676 on end-March 2009.
