Zoran's Vaddis® Processor Selected By Sony For Its Car In-Dash AV Entertainment System With Super Audio CD Playback

Sunnyvale, Calif. — Zoran Corporation (Nasdaq: ZRAN) announced that its Vaddis® DVD multimedia processors have been integrated into a high-quality, high-definition DVD car stereo (model MEX-DV2000/MEX-DV1000) from Sony Corporation.

“The Sony brand is popular with consumers because it is synonymous with quality,” said Ram Ofir, senior vice president and general manager at Zoran’s Home Entertainment division. “Zoran’s Vaddis® 8 product family is ideally suited for automobile entertainment systems since it supports enhanced graphics, video and audio capabilities for the most advanced high definition-enabled DVD players.”

Vaddis® DVD multimedia processors are fully digital end-to-end solutions for DVD players, including a digital RF, servo, read channel, and multimedia decoder. The Vaddis® 8 processor enables playing discs in the following formats: DVD/ DVD+R/ DVD-R/ DVD+RW/ DVD-RW/ VCD/CD/CD-R/CD-RW. Additional features include: playback of Super Audio CD (V886-S), JPEG viewing with Kodak PictureCD, playback of Microsoft WMA and compressed audio formats. Vaddis® 8 also supports Single Pixel Processing™ progressive scan technology, via component video output.

Vaddis® processors are available for consumer and automotive applications. Samples and complete reference design kits are available to Zoran’s strategic customers and partners.
