SingTel mio TV IPTV adds 29k subscribers in 4Q09

SINGAPORE — Singapore Telecommunications Limited (SingTel) [Singapore: SGX; Australia: ASX] today announced that its net profit for the quarter ended 31 December 2009 rose 24 per cent to S$991 million, with its businesses in Singapore, Australia and regional mobile associates reporting improved performance.

mio TV added a record 29,000 net customers in the quarter, up from 25,000 in the preceding quarter. The increase was driven by SingTel’s continuous introduction of compelling offers such as ‘Barclays Premier League early bird’ promotions. The total customer base was 155,000 as at 31 December 2009. SingTel continued to invest in quality content. In the quarter, it expanded its content suite with new channels such as ESPNEWS, Russia Today, WE tv and Sundance.
