London, United Kingdom — Sling Media, Inc., a leading digital lifestyle products company, today announced the availability of two new Slingbox products in the UK market – the Slingbox™ PRO and the Slingbox SOLO. Building on the success of the Emmy-award winning Slingbox, both products transform PCs, laptops, Macs, Windows Mobile-based smartphones and a range of mobile phones running S60 software on Symbian OS™ into personal, portable TVs. Similarly, both products enable consumers to watch and control their home cable, satellite or digital video recorder (DVR) anywhere they can access the Internet on a wide range of “displays”.

“The tremendous success of the Slingbox in the UK demonstrates that consumers have embraced the idea of placeshifting,” said Blake Krikorian, co-founder, chairman and CEO of Sling Media. “With the introduction of the Slingbox PRO and Slingbox SOLO, we are setting an even higher standard in the placeshifting market by incorporating industry-leading video technology and a streamlined, intuitive setup process for both products. Sling Media is focused on designing products that will provide customers with top value and the best possible overall, out of the box experience, and I feel great about the products we are bringing to the market here in the UK with today’s announcement.”

Both the Slingbox PRO and Slingbox SOLO are designed to meet the varied requirements of today’s TV households. Features include widescreen (16:9) support and streams in full VGA resolution (640×480). Both products accept inputs from either standard definition or high definition set top boxes, giving customers the ability to connect virtually any Audio/Video device via component video, S-Video or composite video connectors and features looping outputs for each input. The Slingbox PRO and Slingbox SOLO both control a wide range of Freeview, digital cable and satellite set top boxes available in the UK market, including those offered by Sky, Virgin Media and Tiscali.

The Slingbox PRO includes four distinct A/V inputs, each with audio: Aerial, S-Video and composite video inputs and outputs as well as an HD component connection for HD set top box customers via the included HD Connect cable. The combination of inputs and outputs makes for seamless integration into current A/V systems and allows customers to connect up to three independent A/V devices and one aerial connection at one time. Designed especially for the UK market, the Slingbox PRO features an integrated PAL analogue/digital tuner with DVB-T support that gives customers access to Freeview programming from their aerial connection. The Slingbox PRO will retail for £199.99 inc VAT (MSRP) and includes an HD component accessory called HD Connect cable.

The Slingbox SOLO gives customers the ability to connect one A/V device via a component, S-Video, or composite video connection and also features integrated outputs for each as well. This product is targeted at the consumer with a standard or high definition set top box or DVR in their home. The Slingbox SOLO will retail for £129.99 inc VAT (MSRP).

Both products will be available nationwide through Sling Media retail channel partners which include PC World, John Lewis, Carphone Warehouse and Amazon.co.uk as well as at www.slingmedia.com.
