Freeview HD, Sky Sports 1 & 2, ESPN, BBC iPlayer and G.O.L.D Plus offer a compelling consumer TV experience
GENEVA, Switzerland and LONDON, UK — Advanced Digital Broadcast (SIX:ADBN) announced today an agreement with Top Up TV that allows Freeview viewers to enjoy Premier League football (Sky 1 & 2 and ESPN), on its i-CAN Easy HD DVB-T2 set-top box. i-CAN is a retail brand of Advanced Digital Broadcast.
The i-CAN Easy HD already enables UK residents living in Freeview HD areas to watch high definition channels, BBC iPlayer’s catch-up content including high definition programmes, as well as around 50 standard definition Freeview channels. The deal with Top Up TV makes the i-CAN Easy HD the only DVB-T2 box on the market that enables viewers to access premium sports channels from Sky and ESPN.
Top Up TV-enabled i-CAN Easy HD set-top boxes go on sale in the next couple of weeks via some of the UK’s leading electrical retail outlets.
Karl Tempest-Mitchell, SVP – Head of Sales, EMEA for ADB explains, “We have been delighted by the way our first UK product has been received. Our agreement with Top Up TV will further enhance the viewing experience we provide to UK consumers.
“We are proud to be the only company currently offering TV viewers in the UK the combination of Freeview HD and SD channels, iPlayer catch-up HD content from the BBC and premium sports, movies and entertainment channels from Top Up TV.”
Roger Matthews Sales and Marketing Director at Top Up TV commented, ‘The i-CAN HD set top box has already been highly acclaimed by trade press in the UK and the addition of Sky Sports 1&2 plus ESPN on this Freeview box will only add to its accolades’
