DÜSSELDORF — Vodafone Germany (LSE: VOD, NASDAQ: VOD) has launched Vodafone TV, a hybrid digital television service combining digital satellite and analogue cable reception with online video programming. The service has 50 channels in its basic package with 12 HD channels available to satellite subscribers and those with a broadband connection of 10Mbps and above. For lower bitrate customers, HD movies can be downloaded overnight from Vodafone’s video store to the Vodafone TV set-top box.
The set-top box is a dual tuner PVR with a 320GB hard disk. During installation the box automatically selects the best available quality of reception – satellite, cable or IPTV.
