Digital TV in more than two thirds of Dutch households
Tuesday, April 5th, 2011According to the Digital Television Monitor quarterly survey from Ketenoverleg Digitale Televisie, the penetration of digital television in Dutch households has reached 67%, with the majority receiving digital TV via cable.
The number of digital subscribers for the service providers Tele2, CanalDigitaal, KPN (Digitenne+IPTV), Kabel Overig, Ziggo and UPC increased by 3.4% in the fourth quarter of 2010 to 5.35 million, with Ziggo leading the market with a 33.7% share.
The report also monitors TV sales, using GfK Panelmarkt data. 190,000 3D TV sets are expected to be sold in 2011, compare with 41,000 in 2010, and 885,000 connected TVs in 2011, up from 420,000 in 2010.
