Vietnam's AVG chooses Conax for its new DTH and DTT platformTuesday, June 21st, 2011
SINGAPORE — CommunicAsia — Global security provider Conax today announced its contract with Audio Visual Global JSC (AVG), a joint stock company of the An Vien Group, to deliver a high-end security solution for AVG’s new direct-to-home (DTH) satellite and digital terrestrial television service in Vietnam. AVG is the first private firm in Vietnam to be awarded broadcast licenses for digital technology and permission to broadcast television programs nationwide.
Additionally, AVG has already completed the purchase of broadcast rights for sports events – a benchmark for Vietnamese federations to generate revenues on sports broadcasting.
Vietnam is one of the fastest growing pay-tv markets in Asia-Pacific with a population approaching 90 million, including 18 million TV households. AVG plans to offer up to 80 channels and the advantages of a digital environment to households across the nation, driving the standard for pay-tv services in Vietnam.
“AVG is confident in its choice of a strong and stable security partner like Conax to protect and enhance our DTH and DTT business as it grows, said Mr. Tran Dang Tuan, Director General of AVG. We believe that Conax’ DTH experience will secure the future of our operations and target market. ”
“Conax is proud to be chosen as security partner for Vietnam’s first private pay-tv operator, says Are Mathisen, VP Asia Sales. Conax will support AVG’s ambitious growth strategy and provide expertise in developing its potential to becoming one of the largest platforms in SE Asia.”
