Silicon Image InstaPort™ S Technology Featured in Toshiba REGZA 2011 DTV Models
Tuesday, August 9th, 2011SUNNYVALE, Calif. — Silicon Image, Inc. (NASDAQ:SIMG), a leading provider of wireless and wired HD connectivity solutions, today announced that Toshiba’s (Tokyo:6502) new 2011 line of REGZA™ digital televisions (DTVs), the Z2 series and ZP2 series for the Japanese market, will feature Silicon Image’s patent-pending InstaPort™ S single-second port switching technology.
InstaPort S-enabled DTVs will work with any connected HDMI®-enabled source device to improve the consumer’s HD experience by reducing to a single second the four to seven second delay that typically occurs with non InstaPort-enabled DTVs when switching between HDMI-enabled source devices. InstaPort S technology dramatically decreases switching lag times by performing simultaneous background High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) authentication on all connected HDMI-enabled source devices in advance of the source device actually being used.
“Silicon Image is extremely pleased that Toshiba has adopted InstaPort S technology in their latest REGZA DTV models, the Z2 Series and ZP2 series,” said Alex Chervet, senior director of marketing at Silicon Image, Inc. “InstaPort S technology has become a ‘must-have’ feature that allows consumers to instantly access digital content. Toshiba’s adoption of this technology further validates the value of InstaPort S in next-generation DTVs.”
The InstaPort S feature is available in Silicon Image’s SiI9381A, SiI9387A, SiI9389, SiI9587-3 and SiI9589-3 HDMI port processors.
