ADB Adds Epicentro® Intelligence To Gateways, Bringing Vertical Service Revenues To TeoWednesday, September 28th, 2011
GENEVA, Switzerland and Broadband World Forum, PARIS — Advanced Digital Broadcast (SIX: ADBN), a leading supplier of advanced solutions for the connected home and beyond, announced today that it will deliver its intelligent wireless ADSL & GBETH gateways and Epicentro software to TEO LT, AB (Vilnius:TEO1L), the largest provider of integrated telecommunication, IT and TV services in Lithuania.
ADB Broadband has been supplying TEO with its broadband devices since 2009, and will now add state of the art Intelligent Gateways using its Epicentro® software stack with OSGi framework and Network Application Portal.
The Application Portal makes it very simple for consumers to transparently install home network applications from a dedicated “application store”. Example services include energy management, home automation, home security, health-care and more. Until today, these applications required complex software installations and an always-on PC.
The A4001N data gateway uses a field-proven ADSL2+ platform, offering reliable, high-speed broadband access via both wireless and wired home connections.
The high-performance EA4201N-G residential gateway provides similar ADSL2+ WAN connectivity, with the option to use gigabit Ethernet for fibre customers. It comes with Wi-Fi 802.11n 2×2, 4 gigabit Ethernet ports for the in-home network, and two FXS ports for VoIP.
Both gateways are running Epicentro Gold gateway software from ADB, and include a USB port for media and printer sharing.
“Lithuania is a fast growing market for broadband and we are proud to have been chosen by TEO, the leading national telecom operator, as their technology partner to deliver the first solution monetizing vertical services in the connected home network” says Francesco Schiavinato, General Manager at ADB Broadband.
Darius Didzgalvis, Chief Technology Officer of TEO adds “ADB has proven its ability to deliver high quality, robust devices, with which we now plan to extend our service offering to our broadband subscribers while gaining additional revenue opportunities.”
ADB will commence deliveries of these solutions in early 2012.
