Highlighting Cost-Effective, Secure and Scalable Solutions to Enable Indian Cable TV Operators to Digitize and Enhance Their Platforms

MUMBAI, India — NDS Group today announced that it will be showcasing a range of solutions tailored for the Indian digital cable TV market at Satellite & Cable TV India (SCaT) 2011.

At the show, NDS will be demonstrating solutions to enable existing analogue cable operators and new entrants to the market to launch digital TV services with a compelling and differentiated offering.

“The Indian cable TV market is set to go through a radical change and we are committed to supporting our existing and new customers through the digitisation process and beyond.” Commented Jayant Changrani, Country Head and General Manager, NDS India “In a burgeoning market with multiple players it’s vital that platforms differentiate their service with added value features and functionality and as a leading technology provider in the global market and the region we understand what our customers need to successfully grow their business.”

NDS will use SCaT India 2011 to highlight its cost effective and open, digital TV solutions, including:

MediaHighway® set-top box software

NDS’ MediaHighway provides a cost-effective and scalable solution for digital pay TV platforms. The enabling technology for over 195 million set-top boxes worldwide, MediaHighway provides the underpinning technology for added value features and functionality such as interactivity and advanced electronic programme guides (EPG).

Added Value, Scalable Solutions

As a fully scalable solution, MediaHighway set-top box software enables the addition of new features and services such as the ability to record, pause, rewind and playback live TV with NDS’ DVR Lite, the solution that enables a zapper box to be transformed into a DVR with an external disk; and NDS Progressive Download (PDL) technology that enables the delivery of video on demand services over IP with uninterrupted viewing. With NDS PDL there is no need to wait for a programme to be downloaded in full, once enough content is delivered to the STB, viewing can commence whilst the remainder is delivered in background.

Advanced Electronic Programme Guides

NDS EPGs allow platform operators to update and customise the look and feel of their platform in real time without having to download software to the STB. Operators can build in new revenue streams by incorporating seasonal promotions and advertisements in the programme guide, as well as by targeting audiences with personalised messages and content.

VideoGuard® content and service protection

NDS’ VideoGuard secures pay-TV revenues exceeding $50billion around the world. Providing protection of an operator’s service, VideoGuard conditional access (CAS) ensures service revenues, with the ability to securely expand to multiple platforms with VideoGuard Connect™, the multi-platform DRM for pay-TV.

NDS will be exhibiting on stand A2 & A3 in hall A of the World Trade Centre at SCaT India.
