Tier 1 operator, Telenet, has deployed over 400,000 STB’s with Latens’ software-only CAS

Latens (LSE: PIC), a provider of software security solutions for pay TV across all networks, today announced that Telenet Group (NASDAQ: LBTYA, LBTYB and LBTYK) has chosen Latens Titanium secure software CAS, to boost its leadership position in the Belgian pay TV market. Telenet is continuously rolling out the Latens software across its customer base and has deployed over four hundred thousand set-top boxes featuring Latens Titanium to date.

Telenet Group is the largest provider of cable services in Belgium, reaching more than four million subscribers. As part of its mission to continue to invest in product innovations, Telenet has chosen to adopt Latens Titanium software-only CAS alongside the other CAS deployed on the Telenet network. Latens Titanium enables one system to run across multiple networks, providing Telenet with significant cost savings and ensuring that its CAS platform can grow and adapt in line with its services.

Using Latens Titanium, service operators can manage a range of networks from a single headend without having to change systems. This reduction in the number of headends needed allows operators to streamline and simplify their network, and minimise the cost of CAS integration into their business and operational systems.

“Protecting our assets is extremely important to us,” says Noam Raffaelli, VP Network & Systems Engineering of Telenet. “Given the size and diversity of our subscriber base, we needed a content security solution that we could install quickly and cost-effectively, but that would grow and adapt with our requirements. Latens understands our security goals and has also demonstrated that its software-based approach is inherently suited to a business like ours that must move swiftly to bring new services to market and stay one step ahead.”

Carmi Bogot, President of Latens, adds: “In a multi-screen, multiple network world, more operators are experiencing the limitations of smart-card based systems. With video increasingly being watched on PCs and mobile devices, forward thinking service operators like Telenet require a content security solution that can adapt to support all of these new platforms, as well as set-top boxes in the home. Securing the content of a leading operator like Telenet is a great endorsement of the innovative benefits provided by Latens Titanium.”
