Conax Wins Grupo TV Cable, Ecuador Contract

Securing Digital Migration — Partnership With Evolution Digital Grows Into South America — Providing Flexible, Cost Effective End-to-End DVB Open Solutions

SAO PAOLO, BRAZIL — ABTA — Conax, a leading global provider of solutions for protecting multi-device digital content, announced its contract with Grupo TV Cable in Ecuador. Together with partner Evolution Digital LLC who provides competitive STBs, Conax has deployed a highly cost effective and flexible content security solution for enabling Grupo TV Cable with smooth digital migration and additional services such as pre-paid voucher and pay-per-view. The security provider’s aim is to help Latin American pay-TV operators like Grupo TV Cable position their offerings for the future with proven DVB open standards solutions through the option to choose from a wide selection of proven, highly secure, reliable and economical client devices including best-of-breed components for a total platform.

The Conax / Evolution partnership has provided the cable operator with an open, ready-made and proven platform solution, with regional support. The proven solution will help Grupo TV Cable digitize new cities and networks more cost effectively and introduce hybrid STB solutions, as well as provide flexibility to respond to market changes and the scalability to grow and add new markets.

Grupo TV Cable is deploying Conax security for the migrations of systems in 5 smaller markets in Ecuador and converting the analog systems to Digital with increased programming and quality. The services being offered initially are SD and HD subscription, Pay per View and Pre Paid Voucher services. The Billing system vendor is Comarch from Poland, EdgeQAM from Arris and STBs from Evolution Digital.

Having the flexibility to choose from multiple STB vendors, EdgeQAM suppliers and middleware solutions are key advantages of using a Conax Content Security Platform over other competitive solutions, continues Mr. Caney. In addition, the level of customer support provided by Conax and partner Evolution Digital has been very responsive in all aspects of the implementation.
