Verimatrix Selects Arxan Content Protection to Secure Streaming Content across Desktop and Mobile Platforms

AMSTERDAM — IBC 2012 — Arxan® Technologies, the industry leader of application protection solutions that secure the App Economy, today announced that Verimatrix, the specialist in securing and enhancing revenue for multi-screen digital TV services around the globe, has selected Arxan’s content protection products to help secure its popular ViewRight Web security client technology.
The announcement comes as security concerns are growing amidst rapid growth in the adoption of OTT technology. In an April 2012 report by Forrester Research, Inc. entitled “The Tablet-TV Connection”, author Sarah Rotman Epps, senior analyst, forecasts that in the US alone 112.5 million US consumers will own a tablet by 2016, and tablets are disrupting several multibillion-dollar industries related to TV, including cable, broadcasting, advertising, and consumer electronics manufacturing and retailing.
Additionally, growth in global desktop platforms augment the increasing challenges of offering a secure video delivery system for premium content services across multiple platforms, and requires a range of specialist technologies. Verimatrix, with its Video Content Authority System (VCAS™) solutions, is a recognized leader in deployments of secure multi-screen video systems, with its ViewRight Web client technologies supporting a growing range of devices with enhanced HLS security.
Arxan’s GuardIT and EnsureIT code hardening products for desktop and mobile/embedded environments deliver tamper-resistance and self-protection for the ViewRight® Web client, which supports streaming and downloading of broadband video for Windows/Mac desktop environments and iOS and Android-based mobile platforms. The same robust ViewRight client technology is also now being applied to commercial-grade streaming systems that adopt the new MPEG-DASH adaptive streaming standard.
