Alticast and Samsung Launch HD-DVR OCAP set-top box with Time Warner Cable

Seoul, Korea –Alticast and Samsung Electronics announced today that Samsung’s next generation HD-DVR OCAP set-top box, equipped with the Alticast OCAP middleware, will be launched in January of 2008.

Based on the Broadcom 7400 chipset, this latest set-top box (SMT-H3090) is designed for Time Warner Cable, the second biggest MSO in US, and enables viewers to record digital content specified by time, duration and channel while enjoying time-shifted recording for live broadcast content. It also supports analogue channel recording as well as scheduled recording, instant recording, and series program recording.

Especially, the Samsung set-top box is embedded Picture-in-Picture (PIP) feature so viewers can preview other channels while watching or simultaneously recording other broadcast content.

“This new HD DVR product proves Alticast’s continued leadership in Open Cable Platform software and we are happy to position ourselves as a pioneer of open standards-based PVR solutions including OCAP DVR and MHP PDR,” said Jeff Bonin, General Manager and Vice President of Business Development at Alticast, Inc. “In addition to these outstanding HD DVR features, Alticast will be adding Home Networking features to this device in early 2008.”
