Seoul, Korea –Alticast and Samsung Electronics announced today that Samsung’s next generation HD-DVR OCAP set-top box, equipped with the Alticast OCAP middleware, will be launched in January of 2008.
Based on the Broadcom 7400 chipset, this latest set-top box (SMT-H3090) is designed for Time Warner Cable, the second biggest MSO in US, and enables viewers to record digital content specified by time, duration and channel while enjoying time-shifted recording for live broadcast content. It also supports analogue channel recording as well as scheduled recording, instant recording, and series program recording.
Especially, the Samsung set-top box is embedded Picture-in-Picture (PIP) feature so viewers can preview other channels while watching or simultaneously recording other broadcast content.
