Pathé partners with Xstream for Widevine DRM on iOS and Android devices

COPENHAGEN — Xstream A/S, premium provider of end-to-end video management solution and related services, today announced that Pathé Thuis, one of Holland’s leading online video-on-demand services, taps Xstream to implement and deliver Widevine DRM for iOS and Android content delivery.

Pathé is one of Europe’s leading film companies, with 22 movie theaters in The Netherlands. Pathé Thuis is the company’s online video service, offering premium HD quality movies on multiple devices in The Netherlands. As part of their strategy of offering their consumers premium content on all devices, Pathé Thuis turned to Xstream to deliver Widevine DRM content protection for iOS and Android devices, enabling Pathé Thuis to increase the amount of high-quality premium video content on multiple devices in direct response to their consumer demand.

DRM – integrated part of Xstream’s Ingest Service

Cloud-based Google Widevine DRM and Microsoft PlayReady is incorporated in Xstream’s Ingest service, offered as a standalone service or as part of their award winning video management system, MediaMaker. This allows content owners & aggregators to securely upload premium content and have it encrypted and packaged with Widevine & PlayReady DRM. Once packaged, these assets can be distributed via content delivery networks for delivery to consumer experiences on PCs, smartphones, tablets, Smart TVs, Game consoles and other internet enabled devices.
