Leading Danish Cable Operator Chooses VCAS for Internet TV to Protect Multi-Screen Premium Content Offering

COLOGNE, GERMANY — ANGA COM 2013 — Verimatrix, the specialist in securing and enhancing revenue for multi-network, multi-screen digital TV services around the globe, today announced that Stofa, Denmark’s second largest cable operator, has deployed the Verimatrix Video Content Authority System (VCAS™) for Internet TV to provide an enhanced revenue security foundation for Stofa’s SmartTv over-the-top (OTT) solution.

The video service is delivered over-the-top of Stofa’s existing broadband network via HTTP Live Streaming (HLS), and features a range of live and on-demand TV channels, including premium content from C More and HBO. SmartTv also features fully interactive control functions such as pause, rewind, movie rentals and start-over, and content is available on multiple screens, including computers, smartphones and tablets.

“Stofa is committed to providing our subscribers with the content and the service options they crave,” said Thomas Helbo, chief technical officer, Stofa. “To successfully offer our subscribers more choices, however, we first needed to ensure that we could effectively secure multi-screen services — not only to prevent piracy and revenue loss, but also to ensure a high quality of experience (QoE) for our valued subscribers. VCAS for Internet TV addresses all of these needs by offering a robust, yet flexible and user friendly security solution.”

VCAS for Internet TV provides a comprehensive security solution for OTT services over networks implementing HLS adaptive rate video delivery. VCAS for Internet TV protects video services to the broadest range of screens and across multiple network types, including both broadcast (linear) and on-demand delivery modes. Verimatrix enhanced HLS security incorporates advanced protection technologies otherwise only found in managed IPTV and DVB pay-TV systems.

“Stofa has been very successful in its efforts to extend their service brand and subscriber relationships beyond the living room, indeed beyond the home, to satisfy demands for personalized choices and flexible viewing models,” said Steve Oetegenn, chief sales and marketing officer, Verimatrix. “It has been a pleasure to collaborate with their talented team to help them optimize the monetization of their valuable content and services across a multi-network, multi-screen environment.”

Verimatrix will showcase various multi-network solutions at its booth (Hall 10.1, Booth M10) during ANGA COM to illustrate the many advantages and capabilities of its VCAS™ architecture. Verimatrix will also host the latest event in its popular Multi-network Solutions in the Real World Forum series during ANGA COM 2013 at the Dorint an der Messe Hotel (across the street from the Convention Center) on 5 June at 8:00.
