By 31st December 2007 Boxer had 709,000 digital pay TV subscribers, representing an increase of 55,000 in 2007 – equivalent to growth of nearly nine per cent. During the fourth quarter of 2007 the number of customers increased by 16,000.

“It is a sign of strength that we are continuing to grow on a market as mature as the Swedish digital-TV market. It shows that consumers appreciate access to the most popular channels in a simple and inexpensive way,” says Per Norman, Boxer’s CEO.

“We’re selling very well, but tougher competition from other TV platforms, not least from IPTV, means we have to focus on keeping our customers.”

In October the last analogue transmitter on the terrestrial network was switched off. The government decided before Christmas to make more frequency space available for digital TV broadcasts. In the spring the Swedish Radio and TV Authority will be issuing new broadcasting licences for the digital terrestrial network.

“We hope that a number of new and interesting channels will be entering the digital terrestrial network. Future development will involve greater customisation of packages for various requirements, as well as new services that makes it easier for customers. Boxer TV Navigator, an extended electronic programme guide with search functions, is an example of such a service”, says Per Norman.
