SARATOGAS and CULVER CITY, Calif. — Roku® Inc. and M-GO today announced a new partnership that brings instant access to the entertainment that customers care most about. Located on the Roku home screen menu, new “movies” and “TV shows” shortcuts lead directly into the integrated M-GO service and deliver the easiest and fastest way for consumers to start watching new releases and catalog classics including Hangover 3, The Croods, Breaking Bad, Modern Family, Big Bang Theory, Glee and even fall-premiering shows like Brooklyn 9-9 starring Andy Samberg. And for added convenience, M-GO features integrated billing with Roku so customers can rent or buy through M-GO without any extra setup.
“We want to make it even easier and faster for customers to access great entertainment on Roku starting with movies and TV shows – two of our most popular categories,” said Steve Shannon, general manager of content and services, Roku. “M-GO offers a fantastic selection of movies and TV shows that we know our customers will enjoy.”
“We are excited to come together with such a like-minded partner in Roku. We both believe that in order to make TV better we have to make it as simple as possible for consumers to get to the freshest content,” said John Batter, CEO of M-GO. “M-GO on Roku provides that ultimate streamlined experience through frictionless discovery and checkout.”
The movie and TV show shortcuts powered by M-GO will be available in the U.S. on the new Roku LT, Roku 1 and Roku 2 players, and will automatically roll out as a free software update beginning in October to all current-generation Roku devices – the Roku LT (models 2400 and 2450), Roku HD (model 2500), Roku 2 HD, Roku 2 XD, Roku 2 XS and Roku 3 players as well as the Roku Streaming Stick. There will also be a M-GO button on the new Roku LT (model 2700), Roku 1 and Roku 2 remotes, so consumers are just one button push away from the entertainment they crave. To celebrate the partnership, all customers who activate M-GO on Roku between October 1st and December 31st will get two free movie rentals of their choice.
