Montenegro adds 3,983 pay TV subscribers in 2Q 2014

PODGORICA — The Agency for Electronic Media (Agencije za elektronske medije) in Montenegro has released subscriber figures for the ten operators (four cable, two IPTV, and one each of MMDS, DTH, DVB-T2 and mobile TV) authorised to distribute radio and TV programmes to end users in the country.
As at June 30, 2014, the number of connections for the distribution of radio and TV programmes over the different Cable/MMDS/DTH/IPTV/mobile platforms was 153,601, up 3,983 or 2.7% since end-March 2014, and up 8,651 year-on-year (6.0%). The total represents 78.85% (76.81% at end-Q1) of households, the remainder being covered by analogue terrestrial TV.
IPTV retained the leading position with 41.35% of the digital television market (up from 41.94% at the end of Q1 2014). It was followed by DTH distribution at 31.30% percent (31.66% at end-Q1 2013) and MMDS and Cable with 13.02% (13.67%) and 13.28% (11.93%) respectively. The market share of the mobile operator was 1.04% (0.79%).
