Thursday, September 11th, 2014M7 Group Selects Verimatrix to Provide Flexible and Agile Multi-Network Security for New Interactive TV Solution
- Operator Deploys Multiple VCAS Solutions to Create Robust and Unified Security Strategy
AMSTERDAM — IBC 2014 — Verimatrix, the specialist in securing and enhancing revenue for multi-network, multi-screen digital TV services around the globe, today announced that M7 Group has selected the Verimatrix Video Content Authority System (VCAS™) to provide enhanced security for its Online.nl service, which offers a large number of linear TV channels and multiple on demand services on set top boxes (STBs) and companion devices to customer in the Netherlands.
M7 Group’s multi-network deployment features the award-winning VCAS™ for IPTV and VCAS™ for Internet TV security solutions, which integrate security techniques for video over managed and unmanaged networks with a single security authority head-end. Deploying both solutions creates a robust – yet flexible – security solution that allows M7 Group to cost-effectively expand its service offering in the future.
The VCAS solutions are integrated with the Solocco Service Delivery Platform (SDP) and Content Delivery Platform (CDP), developed by M7 Group affiliated company Stream Group, to meet the highest standards of content security and streaming quality. The solution is delivered via Kaon set top boxes (STBs) with Zenterio middleware, providing a complete, integrated suite of solutions to secure video delivery.
VCAS was deployed over M7 Group’s existing network using standards-based simulcrypt technology, which enables parallel operation of multiple CAS solutions and a smooth operational transition. The broadcast system operates in conjunction with a state of the art secure HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) delivery system for STBs, PCs, tablets and smartphones. The innovative VCAS security solution helps M7 Group provide multi-network content protection for pay-TV services across the broadest range of multi-screen consumer devices whilst maintaining operational simplicity.
“We chose to collaborate with Verimatrix on this important project for a variety of reasons, including its vast expertise, as well as its broad partner ecosystem,” said Ron Paans, Technical Director, M7 Group. “By leveraging the expertise and flexible mindset of the teams at Verimatrix we were able to deploy the services to customers in record time and we look forward to collaborating with them again on future opportunities.”
VCAS for Internet TV provides a complete digital TV security solution for OTT services over networks implementing the HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) protocol. The basic HLS security, which includes AES-128 encryption, has been extended by Verimatrix with specific pay-TV security techniques in order to qualify for licensing of premium content and to adequately protect pay-TV services to iOS and Android devices, Windows and Mac OS computing platforms, connected TVs/STBs, etc. The most essential security techniques commonly used in pay-TV systems for managed networks, such as IPTV and DVB, are client device authentication and subscriber entitlement management, both provided as standard in the VCAS for Internet TV key management from Verimatrix.
“M7 Group’s deployment is an excellent example of the advanced hybrid deployments that are becoming increasingly popular around the globe today,” said Steve Oetegenn, president, Verimatrix. “However, for operators to successfully navigate this software and IP transition, it is clear that the value of a robust and reliable vendor partner ecosystem cannot be underestimated. Verimatrix is proud of our longstanding and productive relationships with other members of the deployment ecosystem, and we are delighted that M7 Group was able to leverage these relationships for a successful deployment with reduced risk and enhanced ROI.”
Verimatrix will illustrate the key role of multi-network revenue security at IBC 2014, 12-16 Sept 2014 at the RAI Amsterdam (booth #4.A55). During the exposition, the company will showcase its approach to IP-centric video services for progressive pay-TV operators. In addition, the company will host a Multi-network Solutions in the Real World Forum on 13 Sept from 8:30 – 10:30, featuring several industry experts, including Ron Paans.
