Allwinner announces SoC variant for high-end STBs

In the run-up to the Hong Kong Electronics Fair (13-16th October 2014), Allwinner Technology, a leader in mobile application processor design, has announced its H8 eight-core processor targeted at high-end smart set-top boxes and video games machines.
The H8 is manufactured using TSMC’s 28nm process, and features eight ARM Cortex-A7 cores, running at up to 2.0GHz, with a 700MHz PowerVR SGX544 GPU from Imagination Technologies, to provide gaming performance and a smooth UI experience.
The SoC supports multi-format video processing at 1080p@60fps including H.265/HEVC.
Set-top boxes based on the device are expected to be released in Q4 this year.
