  • Nagra solution customized for Russian mobile TV market which is poised to become one of the largest in the world.

Cheseaux, Switzerland — Nagravision, a Kudelski Group (SWX:KUD.VX) company announced today that Russian carrier Dominanta’s mobile TV services, will be protected by the Nagra Mobile TV conditional access system. This will be the first commercial conditional access system in Russia to support both DVB SimulCrypt and ISMACryp content protection schemes.

“We chose Nagravision’s solution, because we wanted to profit from both their proven expertise gathered in their other mobile TV commercial mass deployments, as well as their unique ecosystem providing the largest choice of integrated broadcast equipment and mobile devices,” said Andrey Chernikov, CEO of Dominanta. “Setting up a state-of-the-art DVB-H service requires the skills of many companies and partners who have already cooperated successfully before in this field. Nagravision turned out to be the most versatile CAS provider.”

The scalable conditional access and highly flexible service protection system in the process of being set up in Moscow at Dominanta’s premises, combines the powerful Nagravision system used in Italy to support over 1 million mobile TV subscribers and a new set of features which allow that system to be adapted for the Russian audience. Subscribers will use mobile TV enabled 2.5G GSM handsets and SIM cards.

Jean-Luc Jezouin, Vice President of Nagravision Mobile TV, said, “It’s an honor to have been selected by Dominanta for this historic event in the Russian mobile TV market, a highly competitive environment where the mobile TV operators will have to be prepared to come up with unique market differentiators.”

The Nagra Mobile TV content protection platform provides all the functions needed to protect the broadcasted services and content. It is available as an extension to existing Nagravision Conditional Access Systems or as a stand-alone system.
