ChungHwa Telecom planning OTT version of its MOD TV service

According to a Digitimes report, ChungHwa Telecom (CHT) is planning the launch of an OTT version of its Multimedia On Demand (MOD) IPTV service, possibly by the end of this year. CHT has already produced MOD TV apps for TVs, tablets and smartphones to support the introduction of its 4G mobile services.
The report says that CHT has procured 100,000 Android-based set-top boxes from Gigabyte Technology and HwaCom Systems, which can be upgraded to support the service.
