VOO Launches Innovative TV Experience With Cisco Videoscape

  • Belgian Cable Operator Rolling Out New, Immersive TV Experience Featuring the .evasion Decoder With Revolutionary User Interface

COLOGNE, Germany — ANGA COM — Cisco (NASDAQ: CSCO) today announced its collaboration with VOO, a leading Belgian cable operator and one of the fastest-growing cable operators in Europe, to provide an end-to-end Videoscape® solution to power a new TV experience delivered through the recently announced VOO .évasion decoder box.

Available this summer to VOO customers, the .évasion box will deliver a unique experience through a series of innovative features, powered by Videoscape Snowflake, including a slick and intuitive user interface (UI), and mosaic video wall that will allow users to navigate easily throughout the channel lineup, with personalized suggestions enabled via the recommendation engine. A standout feature of the .évasion box is the mosaic video wall, which offers viewers direct access to all programs being broadcast via a thematic classification. It also includes an “app store” customizable to service each member of the household with practical information including weather, local news and more.

Additional features promising to excite its customers are the “Restart” function, offering the ability to return to the beginning of an ongoing program, and the “See or review” function, which lets viewers go back in time up to seven days to re-watch the program of their choice, with a broad choice of channels.

Cisco will supply VOO with the new .évasion decoder box, which has a removable hard drive and offers the ability to record up to three programs simultaneously while watching a fourth program. Other key elements of the Cisco® Videoscape portfolio involved include the middleware, a full lineup of headend components, and third-party application integration services.
