SINGAPORE — CommunicAsia2007 Booth # 6J1-01 — Envivio Inc., the leading technology provider of IP video convergence solutions from mobile to HD, today announced its 4Caster M2 encoders were selected by Dream Satellite TV, a brand of Philippine Multimedia Systems Incorporated (PMSI), for the first commercial deployment of DVB-H mobile TV services in the Philippines. PMSI is currently on test broadcast with eight live channels of 24 x 7 programming on select Samsung handsets. Delivering the highest picture quality to the most handsets on the market, the flexible M2 encoders also support multiple output profiles and industry leading conditional access systems (CAS) to provide for scalable growth as Dream launches and expands its mobile TV services.

“We are thoroughly impressed with the features of the Envivio AVC/H.264 encoders that offer multiple profiles thus allowing us flexibility in deployment. Envivio is also committed to high quality standards, security, and interoperability,” said Cesar G. Reyes, CEO of PMSI. He added, “Our primary goal is to pioneer innovative technology-based products to enhance people’s lives. The Envivio encoders help us achieve this goal as we launch our new mobile TV services.”

In addition to their mobile TV trials, PMSI’s Dream is the first and only provider of direct-to-home (DTH) television broadcasting services via satellite in the Philippines. Testing their mobile TV signals since late last year, PMSI has five transmission stations spread throughout metro Manila, where the service will be initially launched commercially. PMSI intends to eventually have nationwide coverage and unique program content via partnerships with content providers, especially Associated Broadcasting Company (ABC5). After a competitive shoot-out evaluating the features and quality of encoding systems, PMSI selected Envivio 4Caster M2 mobile encoders for this high profile project.

PMSI also plans to use both ISMACryp and SimulCrypt to secure content and provide subscriber access to its new mobile TV services. The M2’s ability to support both of these protocols was a key requirement. In the future, PMSI plans to offer pay-per-view channels in which these protocols will play a critical role in protecting revenues.

The 4Caster M2 encoders are a key part of the Envivio mobile TV headend which addresses the requirements for a robust and reliable telco-grade deployment by supporting the most network standards, including 3GPP, 3GPP2, and DVB-H. The headend includes a complete network management system with N+M redundancy and web management, as well as support for ISMACryp security and ISMA wireless standards, providing integration with mainstream mobile ecosystem components. Further validating the success of the Envivio mobile TV headend and the company’s work in the field of video encoding solutions for mobile television applications, Frost & Sullivan gave its Product Innovation Award to the Envivio 4Caster M2 mobile video encoder.

Whatever the network, whatever the video standard, whatever the device and whatever the change in available bandwidth, the Envivio mobile TV headend is ideal to support the mobile TV services of today and tomorrow.
