Mexico distributes 4.3 million DTT receivers

DISTRITO FEDERAL — Mexico’s Secretariat of Communications and Transportation (Secretaría de Comunicaciones y Transportes – SCT) has said that it has distributed 4.3 million digital terrestrial television receivers across 730 municipalities of 25 states, as part of its programme to move the country to digitial television broadcasting. As a result, 90% of the households defined by Mexico’s Ministry of Social Development (Secretaría de Desarrollo Social – SEDESOL) as low-income, have received equipment.
Mexico plans to switch-off its analogue service at the end of this year.
